Solution / AI Calling Agent Pricing Compared

What an AI calling agent actually costs in 2026

Every vendor in this category quotes a per-minute number, and almost none of them mean the same thing by it. This page breaks down what you actually pay, using each vendor’s own published prices.

Why the headline per-minute rate is almost always wrong

An AI phone call costs money in four places: speech-to-text (transcribing the caller), the language model (deciding what to say), text-to-speech (saying it), and the telephony carrier (the actual phone line). Platforms differ mainly in how many of those four they put in the headline number.

Component-priced platforms quote the lowest of the four and list the rest further down. Retell’s pricing page, for example, shows voice agents at $0.07–$0.31 a minute, then voice infrastructure at $0.055/min, TTS from $0.015/min, and LLM costs from $0.0032/min to $0.16/min depending on model, plus $0.005–$0.01/min per add-on. Vapi does the same shape: $0.05/min hosting, plus transcriber, plus model, plus voice, plus a platform plan of $29/month or a $999/month minimum on Pro.

Bundled platforms quote one number that includes the first three. Rymiq is ₹5.00 / $0.10 a minute with transcription, model, voice and knowledge base inside it. Bland is also bundled, at $0.14 a minute on its Start plan and $0.12 on Build with a $299 monthly platform fee. The fourth, telephony, is almost always your own carrier account and runs roughly $0.008–$0.014 a minute on Twilio-class providers; Bland’s Start plan is the exception worth knowing, since it includes an inbound number.

The three questions that actually decide your bill

That third question catches people out most often. On Rymiq, paid plans keep answering past the plan allowance and draw the difference from a prepaid credit wallet at the flat rate; only an empty wallet pauses anything, and top-ups start at ₹100 / $2. Platforms that hard-stop at a cap will pause a campaign mid-run, which costs more than the overage would have.

✦

Does the per-minute rate include the transcriber, the model and the voice, or only the platform’s own layer?

✦

Is there a monthly platform fee or minimum underneath the per-minute rate, and which tier do your requirements actually land in?

✦

What happens when you pass the included allowance — does it stop, throttle, or bill through?

A worked example at 1,000 minutes a month

Take a small sales team running 1,000 outbound AI calling minutes a month. On Rymiq that is the Growth plan at ₹9,999 / $139, which includes 1,500 minutes — so the whole month sits inside the plan, at an effective ₹6.67 / $0.093 per included minute, with nothing drawn from the wallet.

On a component-priced platform, the same 1,000 minutes cost the sum of the stack. Using published mid-range figures — roughly $0.055/min infrastructure, ~$0.0095/min transcription, ~$0.02/min for a mid-tier model and ~$0.02/min for a good voice — you land near $0.10–$0.12 a minute, or $100–$120, plus any monthly platform fee. That is genuinely competitive; the difference is that you had to compute it, and it changes when someone switches a model.

On an enterprise platform the same volume is usually inside a contract: Synthflow lists Enterprise from $30,000 a year, and Yellow.ai quotes Enterprise on a call while charging $0.99 per resolution above its free tier. At 1,000 minutes a month, neither is competing for this buyer.

One caveat that applies to every platform here, including ours: none of these prices include the phone line. Rymiq calls dial out over your own VOIPstudio line, Retell and Vapi bill Twilio or Telnyx separately, and carrier minutes run roughly $0.008–$0.014 a minute on top. Anyone quoting an all-in number without mentioning telephony is rounding down.

What to do with this

Price your own volume, not the headline. Write down your monthly minutes and your monthly chat volume, then run both through each vendor’s published numbers including the platform fee. If the answers land within 20% of each other, pick on the thing that is not price: how fast you can get live, whether you need the chatbot and outreach in the same product, and whether you have someone to tune a stack.

Then test on a real call before paying anything. Rymiq’s free plan includes 15 minutes of real AI calling with no card; Retell gives $10 in credits; Vapi gives starting credits. An afternoon of real calls will tell you more than any pricing table, including this one.

Frequently asked questions

Between roughly $0.07 and $0.31 a minute for the AI itself, depending on the platform and how it is configured, plus $0.008–$0.014 a minute for the phone line, which no platform includes. Bundled platforms like Rymiq charge one flat rate — $0.10 (₹5.00) a minute covering transcription, the language model, the voice and the knowledge base. Component-priced platforms like Retell and Vapi quote a lower headline number and bill the transcriber, model and voice separately, so the real total usually lands in the same $0.10–$0.15 range.
